Cyan Turan

Hello

I’m Cyan Turan, ghostwriter, editor and journalist.

I spent a decade in journalism, writing, editing and commissioning features for some of the country’s biggest women’s media brands, including Red, Cosmopolitan and Good Housekeeping. I won (and lost!) awards, launched campaigns, and honed my craft as a sensitive and empathic storyteller.

I moved into book publishing in 2022, acquiring and editing lifestyle non-fiction titles at HarperCollins. I worked with bestselling authors including Jay Shetty, Dr Becky Kennedy and the Dalai Lama, and ran countless projects through the publishing lifecycle, from acquisition to publication and beyond.

I’m now a freelance ghostwriter and editor, working with both aspiring and bestselling authors to bring their books to life. My clients include doctors, psychologists, therapists, wellness practitioners, influencers, CEOs and academics, and many have gone on to secure book deals with ‘big five’ publishers and become bestselling authors. I also still write the occasional magazine feature.

Publishing

As a former acquiring editor for a major publisher and now ghostwriter and editor, I can support aspiring and established non-fiction authors with a range of publishing services, from concept development to proposal writing, ghostwriting and developmental and line editing. I can also give advice and support to authors navigating the non-fiction market and publishing process.

Journalism

In my decade-long career as a journalist, latterly as Senior Editor at Cosmopolitan, I interviewed A-listers (from Emma Thompson to Paris Hilton) for profiles, wrote long-form features and covered daily digital news. I specialised in women’s lifestyle, health, wellness, entertainment, travel, politics, careers, finance and relationships.

Actor Vicky McClure, smiling and laughing, lying on a bed next to a window in a bright room. She is wearing a polka-dot top and beige cardigan, with jewelry around her neck.
Politician Ruth Davidson sitting on a black patterned sofa, smiling in a blue shirt and jeans, holding a white mug. There is a quote overlay: 'I'd love to take Theresa May down the pub.'
Page from a magazine or newspaper featuring an article titled 'A life less ambitious'. The left side shows a hammock with blue and white stripes hanging outdoors with trees and orange sunset in the background. The right side contains columns of text with a large capital 'N' at the beginning.
Donald Trump in a suit pointing to a red, white, and blue campaign button that reads "Would YOU VOTE for this man?" with additional text answering the question.

‘Working with Cyan was a dream come true for me. She deftly weaves her editing wisdom like gossamer thread: ideas, words and structures are pulled invisibly taut, as if by an unseen hand. Magic.’

Jennifer Cox, psychotherapist, author and broadcaster

‘Cyan is not only a sensitive, diligent interviewer and ghostwriter, she’s also a dedicated researcher and someone I can rely on to do the deeper journalistic work required of a feature. She’s creative, adaptable and above all, a brilliant writer with a tone of voice I love.’
